    My new 45 UCP

I am going to pick up my new Matte Finished 45 UCP this afternoon.
Would it be wise to strip the gun down and clean it with either a solvent or water based degreaser
followed by a good coat of Eezox? Thanks

    Re: My new 45 UCP

A good cleaning and a good lube are always advised for a new firearm. Don't forget the mags.
Fortunately the larger calibers don't tend to come packed full of goo like the .380's, so your task will be much easier.

    Re: My new 45 UCP

I just picked my acouple of weeks ago. Cleaning was a snap! I used gun scrub in a a can then lubed with Breakfreek clp.  Parrothead has posted some pics and instrucktions on removing the grips that should help out tremendesly! I would hate to see how much goo is packed in the .380 Ick! [+o(]

My UC45 looked like it had been drowned in oil, then tossed in the bag before packing.  Must be one guy at the factory who does things differently.  Your mileage MAY vary.

That oil they use is some really thick stuff. I will clean it well  before shooting it for the first time.
A big thanks to all for the help.

Probably the same guy who packed my 380CC. He must have gotten a raise (in calibers).
