Sellier & Belot .380 Ammo

Postby Hurryin' Hoosier » Fri Jul 23, 2010 6:06 pm

I'm curious as to what luck others have had with S&B .380 ammo in their Thunder 380s. Mine eats Fiocchi like candy, and my little Kel-Tec P32 likes the S&B .32 ACP, but my Thunder 380 sure doesn't like the S&B .380. Out of a box of 50, I had at least 10 FTFs and all shots were way below point of aim.

How many total rounds through your 380? Many report their 380s being picky about ammo until broken in, then eat anything they feed them. But, have also read a few instances where even a broken-in Thunder 380 didn't like S&B ammo. There was talk that it may not be as good as it used to be.

I've only put about 250 rounds through her, and plan to try at least one more box of the S&B before giving up on it. Seems strange, though, that I've had zero problems with Fiocchi.

My wife's cc had problems with S&B too. I think I read in the Tech section a wile back that there was some sort of rim difference that can cause the problem but I couldn'd find the post. She doesn't have problems with any other brand.

We've had a few other feed/eject problems with the pistol and since we got it back from CGW no problems. Just have never gone back to try S&B. The .380 is too expensive here to experiment with!

With 250 rounds thru it, should be broken in. If that is the only brand you have a problem with, just shoot up what you have left or sell it & then stay away from it. If you start having issues with othe brands, call Royce at Colorado Gun Works. I read a post on Bersa Chat where a 380 was okay with everything, including the S&B, but didn't like American Eagle!

It is expensive to experiment around to find the right ammo. Hopefully, prices have started coming down some & it also seems to be a little easier to find.

P.S. You folks should join the Bersa Chat forum. Many members here belong there also. It started up when the owner of this one announced it would be shut down back in May. A lot of good info & a lot of fun over there.
